At St Francis of Assisi we have 3 Year 5 classes and 3 Year 6 classes in a state of the art building for both classroom teaching and specialist classes. The provision of 1:1 iPads for our senior students has further motivated students and developed students capacity as independent learners and thinkers of the twenty first century.

Our classrooms are places where small groups and individual students are pursuing a range of activities and tasks, enabling students to interact, collaborate and inquire. A focus on authentic personalisation of learning is transforming the way students work and learn.

Children engage in a range of subjects with a clear focus on Numeracy, Literacy and Science, taught using an explicit direction instruction model of teaching.

In Literacy, a structured approach to literacy is adopted and consists of the explicit instruction of phonics, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, fluency and text based units of work.

In Mathematics an explicit instruction instructional model as well as an inquiry instructional model is evident in engaging and dynamic classrooms.
